Meet outside entrance to Chingford train station (trains run every 15 minutes). You can also get buses 97, 212, 379, 397 and 313 to the bus terminus next door. Parking is free on Sundays in Station Road and other roads nearby. We will enjoy a circular tour viewing the local delights of Epping Forest before finishing at The Royal Forest/The View/Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge/ Butler’s Retreat  where you might wish to visit or lunch before returning to the station. Sorry, no toilets before the walk.  This is part of the Ramblers Get Walking Week.

Meet Hayes Hill Farm, Stubbing Hall Lane, Waltham Abbey. From Waltham Abbey, take B194 Crooked Mile.  Pass Fishers Green Lane and take next left (sharp left on a right hand bend in the road) – Stubbins Hall Lane, then right for Hayes Hill Farm.  Circular gradual rising walk up Clayton Hill with views over Lea Valley and Essex on national cycle path 2, and down into Clayton Hill Country Park, then through Keysers Estate, Nazeing to Broxbourne Mill meadows, then along Lea Navigation to King’s Weir and back to Hayes Hill car park.

Meet in the Harvester car park at Langdon Hills (was the Crown Pub) if you are lunching with us, otherwise park in small car park on left between the church and the pub. We will be walking and admiring the views through countryside and woods to the Langdon Hills Nature Reserve and Plotlands Estate and small Museum for coffee.  On the A127 towards Southend, take the B148. 4th exit roundabout towards Laindon, and immediately turn right at traffic lights – Lower Dunton Road, continue past the signposted “Nature Reserve” on the left, take next left Church Hill, then left into High Road.  Pub is on the left not far past the church.
