Meet at Weald Country Park car park by the Visitor Centre. At Junction 28 on the M25 take the A1023 to Brentwood. Take the first left turn (opposite the Nag's Head PH) to South Weald and follow the brown country park signs. Car park £2.20. Toilets and coffee shop at Visitor Centre start and end of walk.

Meet Hertford Town football stadium car park, West Street, Hertford . From the A10 take the A414 into Hertford, at the 2nd roundabout turn left into Gascoigne Way, cross over the next roundabout then turn left at the next turning (West Street) continue for approx 500 yards then take the next on right – this looks more like a track than a road.   This walk is on the route of the old railway line from Hertford to Welwyn Garden City through the villages of Letty Green and Cole Green, stopping for refreshments at the Cowper Arms before rejoining the rail path back to Hertford.  Walk is on level cycle paths and village roads.

Meet at Benfleet Downs and Hadleigh for a four and a half mile walk through wooded valley and fields opening to spectacular views of the Thames Estuary, Hadleigh Marshes and Canvey Island. Our route takes in the ruins of Hadleigh Castle where there is a splendid coffee shop and toilets, and skirts the Olympic BMX Cycle Track. Parking in the Country Park car park where there are toilets. Parking charge £2.  Take the A129 towards Rayleigh and Hadleigh, following brown signs at roundabout onto A13 towards Country Park. In Hadleigh pass huge Morrisons on your left, at roundabout turn back on yourself, ignoring the brown Hadleigh Castle sign and continue back with Morrisons on right of dual carriageway. Opposite Morrisons’ car park take LEFT at brown sign to Country Park down Chapel Lane, continuing on lane beyond houses to entrance to County Park on right. Coffee shop at Hadleigh Castle
